Not a long post from me today. I have too much to write about and I just can't decide what it should be. Should it be more videos? Stories about the current administrations dismal failures (yes, I know ... which one?) or perhaps about the surreal presidential campaign. For example, I'm curious where the 527s are about Gov Palin's "I was for it before I was against it" bridge faux pas. Just asking.
I could write about how acorn season has begun in earnest here in the south of the west, where we live at the terminus of two Interstates: one heads into another country and the other falls off into the sea. I kinda like that.
Yes, acorn season. We've been picking em up and checking to see which ones are viable (the sinkers) and which ones might make fine jewelry (the floaters). Cataloguing them as we pick 'em up. I got 441 alone at a friend's house in Escondido - from the "mother oak" as she called it.
But no, I'm sitting here trying to figure out just why so many people are working so hard to make sure that I know without a doubt that I'm not worthy of being equal. What is it that makes some people so afraid that they would spend their money (in THIS economy, fer pete's sakes ..) to ensure that I and my family can never have all the rights everyone else has.
It's just beyond me.

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's not all about you. Really.
Obama just scares the you-know-what out of a lot of people. What matters to me first of all, is his very extreme position on abortion. It is so horrific, and yet many people refuse to see the truth of it. They couldn't care less. Its just not an issue for them as long there's free and unrestricted access to abortion. That's all they care about. Secondly, the friends and associates that he surrounds himself with make me very scared and nervous... you know, Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, Bernadine Dorn and his guiding lights, Karl Marx, Saul Alinsky and James H. Cone. Thirdly, I bet if you asked any foreign enemy of America who they are rooting for in this election they would say Obama. I could go on, but these are the most important reasons that I and a lot of other people dread the though of an Obama presidency.

I am astounded by your total lack of sensitivity and equally impressed by the sheer size and heft of your blinders.
Yes, it *is* all about me, as much as it seems to be all about *you*.
You're toting around some pretty big fears without, it would seem, the merest ability to temper them with a shred of hope, humanity, or decency.
Yes, it's about me and about thousands in California just like me who have been denied the respect and dignity and *right* of equal treatment under the laws.
This is about my darling Aida, who living a life shortened and challenged daily by a horrific diagnosis, manages daily to connect to hope and the joy of living. This seems to be more than you are capable of, if your comments are any indication of your ability to connect with joy or life.
I mean really, Karl Marx?!? That's an awful big stretch to make. If you're looking for something to scare yourself with, I highly recommend that you wait until the bailout package passes with no measures against the folks who got us into this mess. Then, make a quick trip to the Party Store where there's sure to be a run on Henry Paulson masks.
And while you're at it, I recommend as well researching Gov Palin's church and pastor, as well as the political organization of which her husband was quite recently (if not still) a member and at whose convention she spoke dynamically.
Do yourself a favor and do some research before trolling personal posts with reductionist right-wing pap. I am NOT in the mood.

I was responding to that statement in my response and I think you know that. For you it's all about you, but it's not all about you for me. There are issues that I'm passionate about and they're different from the issues that you are passionate about. You seem to be saying that anyone who does not vote for Obama hates you and doesn't want you to be happy. That's very unfair and untrue.
Darlin', I'm not talking about Senator Obama at *all* in this post. You have misread me completely.
I don't know where you live, but I live in California, and if you've been following this blog at all you might have noticed there's a vote coming up in November that will eliminate the rights of only a single group of Californians and will treat them differently under the laws of the state. That's unacceptable in all worlds, not just mine.
*That's* what I'm talking about. And yes, it's certainly about me because I'm one of the people who will lose a precious fundamental right and freedom.
Re the Presidential election (which again, was not the subject of this post) ... Yes, I'm a supporter of Senator Obama, for many reasons. I am not a supporter of Senator McCain, for many reasons, not the least of which the platform of his party is draconian and yes, discriminates against me and everyone like me. If that works for you, fine. Your life. Your vote. Your fear.
You may keep and enjoy it.
I prefer hope and working for the light.
